Frances Grofton's Cameo Ring

 

 

 

Cameo ring purchased c. 1918 by John F. Sheber in France at close of WWI. Given to his sister Clara. In later years, Clara was ill and was cared for by her niece Frances (mother Julia). After Clara's death, John Sheber gave the ring to Frances in recognition of her care for Clara. In 2005, Frances gave the ring to John F. Lilly

    (John F. Sheber eventually married Clara Rominski, so his wife and sister were both named Clara.)
